antique cotton for her over-skirt...small ribbon rosette detail...
I love dolls!...I always have!...and I've been very lucky in that my dear Momz made sure that when we moved all my "babies" were packed in my toy box and made the move with us....no matter what type of doll..dollar dolls traveled right along with my more valuable dolls...the more the merrier!...so maybe it's really no surprise that I enjoy making dolls...be they pumpkin heads or snowball...or spooky...or Santa..or bunny...coming up with new ideas is always fun...but no matter what wild ideas are cooking away in my brain I always come back to dolls that look like dolls should?...sweet and innocent.
Antique dolls of all kinds are among my all time favorites...when I'm making a doll I try very hard to capture the "feel" of old dolls...one of my favorites is the "Marrote"...at any doll show I am always drawn to them...perhaps it's the mechanics of the piece...I'm not sure...I just know they amaze me...each and every one I see....
so here is my offering to the world of "Marrotes"...she is all dressed in pink...her over-skirt is made from a piece of antique polished cotton fabric...she has a hat made of wool felt...and she has a tummy full of jingle bells....I guess you would really have to call her a "shaker" doll
as unlike a "Marrote" that you spin to make noise mine you have to shake...and that's my latest....yes I know I should be working on pumpkin heads right now..but this little one just had to be made!...now back to pumpkins!...
FABULOUS!!!!!!!

I thank thee that I am none of the wheels of power but I am one with the living creatures that are crushed by it.
