FROLIC!...

 
as they say.."location, location, location!....and how very true for "FROLIC" Antiques in the Garden!....Carey and Suzanne have a wonderful backdrop to hold their one day event at...and the FrolickingGods where smiling on all of us customers and vendors alike Saturday...it was nice a sunny and not too hot....a perfect day for a perfect event!....so rather than bore you with too much verbiage I will let some photos I stole minute from my customers to snap hopefully give you a better feeling for what it was like to spend the day at "FROLIC".....

 
..just a little something from Melissa Tereck...yes that me..but every so often you show your work first!..and lucky me almost all of my little guys are now living with a new family...

and at the end of the very busy day this is what we all needed to flop out on...with maybe just a touch of padding on it!...although as tired as I was it looked fine to me just as it is!....

well that's not really true as in this art world I live in one group may be done but it's always on to the next idea.....here is my little Elephant though all done....he and other new pieces are packed and ready to hit the road along with me for "FROLIC"
Antiques in the Garden....so bright and early..long before the birds!...I will be on the road....hope to see some of you there....meanwhile some photos of new pieces for your pleasure.....

I had so much fun making this little elephant....well it's sewing and for whatever reason I enjoy sewing..and this is only the second "soft" piece I have ever made...may have to do more!....

silly something....

I think of myself as mostly a "paper-mache" artist..or an anything paper artist...but sometimes my love of sewing calls out to me and I hit the machine again...but this time it's animals rather than clothes that I'm working on.....

the little guy here is as of yet not finished but he is getting there....his start was my desire to make something patriotic/circus and for whatever reason I have a fondness for Elephants...there is something rather endearing about them...something in their sad wise eyes.....so here is my not yet finished Elephant....he is made from an old piece of fabric that I bleached and died to this nice soft gray....his eyes are made from a couple of old shoe buttons I was lucky enough to have on hand....when he is done he will have a top hat and some other goodies to show off his patriotism...and I will take a photo of him then as well...hope you enjoy him now though in his unfinished state!.....

 

 

"quick update"

I have a happy post today....this little guy..my last post...has gone to a very good new home...but most of all he helped to raise funds for a summer trip for a small school out in the Delta....I was very happy to be a part of something so good for High School kids!
now back to work and onward to my next show.......

The Gift

all of my life I have believed that the ability to create something was a gift..some can write..some are great thinkers and give all of us the gift of medicine...some can build anything they can dream....I am an artist...I see something..anything in paper...this is my "gift"....and because we are given these "gifts" we have a responsibility to give on to others....or so I believe....so the little guy you will see here is my gift to raise funds to help send kids on a summer trip....it's a small thing but it's important in our new economy to help where you can....now I'll put away my soap box!...and hope he brings in some nice dollars for the kids....and that you enjoy seeing him...

 
 
oh and I should thank friend Bonnie for the ribbon that trims his outfit..yes it was a "gift" too.
