"home sweet home"...

 
back in the day my Dad would bring home all these wonderful boxes...and one of my brothers would feel sorry for his sister with no doll house and cut up the boxes to make me a doll house....we made all sorts of odd furnishings for them out of more boxes and folded paper...and they got played with and left outside in the elements....so sadly none remain..but I remember them...and sometimes I think that was the start of my fondness for almost anything paper....and now all these years later here is my tree house made out of paper....what you can't see here is that the back is open and I made it little furniture...yes I'm obsessive...but it's fun!...and yes there are more in the works!...

"Spring is in the Air"

 this little bunny is on his way to the Spring Parade...
as of last sunday it is "Spring"...but I'm not so sure as it is raining-raining-raining here in "Sunny California"...however it's been spring in my studio for some time...with all sorts of funny critters hanging around....here are just a couple and I hope you enjoy them.....

sometimes I think there is a great big laugh-o-meter in the sky...and when you think you are getting everything done as it should be the laugh-o-meter goes off....and so it did this past weekend....Kerry Howard-Schmidt, her very talented mother Karen Howard, and I did a craft show this past weekend....so you can guess months of planing..lots of work making pieces...and THEN!!!....you got it....RAIN-RAIN-RAIN...not a little...for us?...HA!...can you say buckets!..and then maybe BUCKETS more....I always have fun spending time with this dynamic duo and we did have fun...and in the end we met some very nice people..but it was a long wet weekend and hard on all the vendors at the show....and today is a new day and new ideas await in the work zone..so like always it's onward....

now to the important part..new photos of some of my pieces I did for the show...have to say that some of them are also sold...and I thank the kind people who braved all the rain...and I hope my little bits of art enjoy their new home....

oh and just to show that even the great "laugh-o-meter" in the sky likes a good laugh too the sun came out when it was time to pack up!....hahaha...

One last little detail here, as you can see I had cabbage on my mind...sort of came from watching an old movie....all that aside, I have to say "thank you" to Dan Reeder and his very helpful blog for pointing me in the right direction for the making of my cabbage leaves...

I have a funny way of telling what season it is..all I have to do is take a look at the paint color on my hands and I know....so now it's all shades of green...must mean it's "Spring" here in mache-land.

Now the reason for all the green goes to my admitted fondness for old films....not to long ago I saw "You Can't Take it With You"...an oldie staring Jimmy Stewart and Lionell Barrymore and a cast of many others...well in one scene there is a fellow with a wonderful toy he has made....it's a rabbit in a cabbage...this got stuck in my mind and being whatever sort of artist I am I set to work to make my own rabbit in a cabbage...thus all the green shades...sometimes I wonder if there is a cure for my desire to make these things...or maybe I enjoy the challenge to much to want to cure the cause....so that being said everything is a work in progress right now... so no photos to show at the moment...when I'm done I promise to post some of the new pieces...meanwhile for now enjoy this cute little old bunny postcard...and I'll get back to work!...
